There are many things to do and shops to visit in Betws-y-Coed. There are many forest, woodland and riverside walks that start from the village, including the walk up to Llyn Elsi that starts near the B&B. Shops include the Anna Davies Welsh Wool Shop and well known names such as Cotswold Outdoor, Edinburgh Woolen Mill, Hawkshead and Stewart Cunningham. There are numerous places to eat in the village.

There are many steam railways to visit including the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the Welsh Highland Railway, and Ffestiniog Railway. There is also a railway museum in Betws-y-Coed. The area is rich in culture and history, and there are historic castles at Conwy, Caernarfon and Dolwyddelan. The famous Bodnant Garden (National Trust) is just down the valley on the road to Llandudno.

There are numerous activities to enjoy including walking, climbing and mountain biking. The Marin Trail mountain biking complex has routes that start from Betws-y-Coed. Mountain bike storage is available at Church Hil. Fishing and horse riding are also available locally, and there is an excellent 9-hole golf course in the village.

The seaside is not far away with the Victorian resort of Llandudno to the north, and the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay in Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula to the west.
